Hi everyone, my name is Pia. I study at Ahuntsic College and have been studying Police Technology for about a year and a half. Our program is 3 years, and then we have to go to the Quebec national police school. We have a lot of different courses in a semester. We have communication classes, a Law class, and physical classes. Most of us, in Police Technology, we are studying in this program to become police officers. We all start with 5 years of police patrol and after that many options open for us like, detective, criminal investigation, becoming a sergeant, or even the tactical forces (GTI) and many more. With that said, I will show you how to use the VirtualWritingTutor which could be really useful now or even in the future for grammar.
As police officers, we have a lot of reports to write, at the end of our shift or even in the middle of our day, that could be a long process and really tiring. Those reports often goes to our sergeants, to lawyers and even court judges. For that reason, it is quite important to have well-written reports and free from grammatical errors. Therefore, the website that I am about to show you will help us look more professional and make our writing task less complicated. So, if you have English texts to write in a professional framework, keep watching.
So, we are going to start by opening a new tab by clicking on the left-hand top of your screen. Then, you'll write in the searching bar the website which is VirtualWritingTutor.com. So, we are now on the website. In the top left corner of the screen there's the logo. As you can see, under it, it offers many useful features like how to make glossary, which will help you with finding new words that you wouldn't normally use on a daily basis, blogs and many more. When you scroll down, you can see the instruction of all the different features that the website has. In our case, to be able to have nicely written texts we will use the grammar checker which is right here below the navigation menu.
To fix the problem of grammatical errors while writing our reports on a daily basis, we will write our text in the box here and click on check grammar and you"ll see all the errors that you made pop up down here. For example, if I copy paste a part of a rapport which is "the complaintant tells us that this morning when she went out to look for her bag from her car, it was missing. sadly A value of about 5000 $ was stolen from her " and click on check grammar when we scroll down we see all the errors that need to be corrected. So, in my case we have to correct "the", "complaintant", "sadly" and "5000$". We can also see the punctuation errors by clicking check punctuation, but the check grammar corrected it already. They also give you interesting information about your text like the word count, paragraph count, error count and error density.
So there you go, an easy way to improve your English writing and impress your superiors and coworkers. It helped me a lot with my classes and it will be really useful in the future. I hope it will help you guys too.
