My name is Leia and Today I will show you how to use an online glossary to improve vocabulary. So, I am in Police Technology at Ahuntsic College for 1 year. I have to follow different kinds of courses to excel in my field. For example, this year, I study Civil and criminal law, self-defense, communication with adults and children and many more. All these courses will help me be prepared for my future career. In the future, I think I want to specify myself in investigations which consists of bringing all the clues together to find the author of a crime. For that, I need to be well-prepared in case of problems.

One problem could be that one of the suspects I work with can only speak English and I don’t know how to communicate properly with him in his language. When I speak with suspects, I need to know some specific words related to police field and their pronunciation so that I can be understood well.

To do so, I found a website that will help create a large vocabulary to help me communicate with my suspects. I will show you how to use this website. We will have to open a new tab in the address bar at the top of the screen in the middle. We will type the URL which is virtualwritingtutor.com in the address bar. This should be the home page you see when you enter on the website. In the top left corner, you have the logo, then under it, we have the navigation menu.

We will click on the fourth title that is called writing tools and select the glossary creator. In the middle, you have two buttons, the one one the left is a video tutorial if you need specific information and the right button is examples you can look at to inspire yourself. Under, you have a box where you can write your glossary title. Then, you can click on the submit button. For the sake of this video, I will use a draft I did a few weeks ago. Then, at the left, you have your title, your topic and an introduction. Now you can start adding new vocabulary with the first term. You can add the part of speech, the pronunciation, a definition, the translation, an example of how to use the word in a sentence and an image. You can add as many words as you want in your glossary.
