Just a simple glossary for some words we used on the first bimester.
Adhesion
Noun
The action or process of adhering to a surface or object.
Example: The water's adhesion makes it stick to a towel.

Asteroid
Noun
A small rocky body orbiting the sun. Large numbers of these, ranging in size from nearly 600 miles (1,000 km) across (Ceres) to dust particles, are found (as the asteroid belt ) especially between the orbits of Mars and Jupiter, though some have more eccentric orbits, and a few pass close to the earth or enter the atmosphere as meteors.
Example: A large asteroid may collide with the Earth in the future.

Chemical
Adjective
Relating to chemistry, or the interactions of substances as studied in chemistry.
Example: These chemical properties made it identifiable as a good substance to use on the science fair.

Noun
The sticking together of particles of the same substance.
Example: The water's cohesion makes it unite into droplets.

Combustible
Adjective
Able to catch fire and burn easily.
Example: This is a highly combustible substance, so be careful.

Comet
Noun
A celestial object consisting of a nucleus of ice and dust and, when near the sun, a “tail” of gas and dust particles pointing away from the sun.
Example: Last night, I saw a beautiful comet with such a magnificent tail.

Density
Noun
The degree of compactness of a substance.
Example: Mercury has a higher density than water.

Hardness
Noun
The quality or condition of being hard.
Example: Diamond has a very high hardness.

Noun
The manner in which the surface of a substance reflects light.
Example: This material has a high luster.

Meteor
Noun
A small body of matter from outer space that enters the Earth's atmosphere, becoming incandescent as a result of friction and appearing as a streak of light.
Example: Some theories say a huge meteor killed all dinosaurs.

Adjective
Relating to things perceived through the senses as opposed to the mind; tangible or concrete.
Example: These physical characteristics made them identifiable as ancient relics.

Noun
A celestial body moving in an elliptical orbit around a star.
Example: We live on a planet: Earth.

Property
Noun
An attribute, quality, or characteristic of something.
Example: One of the properties of this material is its extreme durability.

Reaction
Noun
A chemical process in which two or more substances act mutually on each other and are changed into different substances, or one substance changes into two or more other substances.
Example: A textbook example of a chemical reaction is vinegar mixed with baking soda generating bubbles.

A luminous point in the night sky which is a large, remote incandescent body like the Sun.
