Hello! My name is Antoine St-Germain, I am currently studying in Juridical Technology at the Ahuntsic College. I have been in this program for 2 years now, and today I am presenting a website named "CAIJ". It is useful for every aspect of juridical research.
We all want good grades at school. Am I right? Well, I know I do, and you probably do too.
Time management is a big problem for us law students, but this website saves a lot of time and energy.
I got 90% on my last exam because I used this website efficiently and saved time.
Today, my goal is to show you how to do better research while saving time.
I want you to pay attention to this video, so you can have good grades too.
It is astonishing what you can do with the website I’m going to show you.
When you have to do some research on a topic, but you don't know where to start.
You could lose a lot of time trying to figure out what to search first.
For example, imagine you have a divorce project in your family law class, and you need to know more about this subject, what do you do?
Trust me, CAIJ has the solution to this problem.
First of all, you type "CAIJ" and click on the first website. Then, you connect to your school account. When you are connected, your page should look like this. You will notice that there are many options for you to choose.
There is a legislation menu (that goes well with the annotated laws menu), a jurisprudence menu (if you want to look up past decisions), a doctrine menu (if you want to know more about a subject), and many more. In law research, we focus on those three. There is also a law dictionary that explains every terminology that we use in law.
Let's say I want to search doctrine (which is what we are taught to search first). I click on the "online doctrine" menu, then I can either write keywords in the search bar or I can choose between these subjects. For example, if I click on "family", it will give me every online doctrine that talks about family law. Then, I can add words to the search bar to be more specific about my research, for example "divorce". I had 4000 results now I am at 600. I can continue being more specific until I find the doctrine that answers my question. If I click on the eye, I can read a summary about the text.
In conclusion, the CAIJ website is essential for law researching, because it saves us a lot of time and energy. So, if you are in Juridical Technology, make sure to have an account on CAIJ.
