This glossary contains the words people can use to describe a web page while doing a screencast.

Adjuvant therapy
noun
A treatment method used in addition to the primary therapy. Radiation therapy often is used as an adjuvant to surgery.
Example: This low level of compliance may underestimate the true efficacy of extended adjuvant therapy.

Example: She started losing her hair due to alopecia when she was in primary school.

Anesthesia
noun
Loss of feeling or sensation resulting from the use of certain drugs or gases.
Example: Maybe the numbness is the body providing temporary anesthesia for the pain.

Benign Tumor
noun
A term used to describe a tumor that is not cancerous.
Example: It wasn't cancer, only a benign.

Biopsy
noun
The removal of a sample of tissue that is examined under a microscope to see if cancer cells are present.
Example: A tentative diagnosis of rabies was made on a biopsy and confirmed at autopsy.

Brachytherapy
noun
Internal radiation treatment achieved by implanting radioactive material directly into the tumor or close to it. Sometimes called internal radiation therapy.
Example: I was offered a choice: radical surgery or brachytherapy.

noun
A general term for more than 100 diseases that have uncontrolled, abnormal growth of cells that can invade and destroy healthy tissues.
Example: He's suffering from cancer of the lung.

Secondary tumor deposits in the liver from a primary cancer of the pancreas.
Catheter
noun
A thin, flexible tube through which fluids enter or leave the body.
Example: The nurse inserted a catheter into his bladder.

Gamma Rays
noun
High-energy rays that come from a radioactive source such as cobalt-60.
Example: The Earth is bombarded by gamma rays all the time, but usually there aren't enough to do any damage to us.

Immune Therapy
noun
Treatment that stimulates the body's immune defense system to fight infection and disease. Also called biologic therapy or immunotherapy.
Example: Jayden started to improve, particularly after he began a new treatment of intravenous immunotherapy.

Metastasis
noun
The spread of cancer cells to distant areas of the body by way of the lymph system or bloodstream.
Example: All the patients had serosal invasion and lymph node metastasis.

noun
A physician who specializes in caring for people who have cancer.
Example: I went to see an expert oncologist.

Prosthesis
noun
An artificial replacement of a part of the body.
Example: She was fitted with a prosthesis to replace her missing leg.

White Blood Cells
noun
The blood cells that help defend the body against infection.
Example: Some patients may also have an increased number of white blood cells and platelets.

noun
One form of radiation that can be used at low levels to produce an image of the body on film or at high levels to destroy cancer cells.
Example: The X-ray showed a slight irregularity in one lung.
